About Aham Sphurana

Hello and greetings to all,

Bhagwan Sri Ramana Maharishi, the great sage of Tiruvannamalai, in the state of Tamilnadu has said, 'The Self is the true nature and is always present, but one is only aware of it when the mind's limiting tendencies are gone. The Self is pure awareness, unchanging, and eternal.'

The state of being oneself, without knowing or becoming anything is called self-realization. This state is permanent and continuous awareness of the Self.

In sanskrit, Aham means ‘I’ and sphurana can be translated as ‘radiation, emanation, or pulsation’. Bhagwan has said, 'The state in which the pure sattva mind shines clinging to the Self is called aham sphurana…The source to which this sphurana clings alone is called the reality or pure consciousness…'

Suri

To achieve this he showed a path of self enquiry. His teaching of 'self enquiry' asks one to look deeper into one's heart and ultimately leads one back to the source.

But, sadhana is not easy. Many times the sadhaka feels that my guru is not here in the physical form. This is a tremendous pain for the sadhaka who wants nothing else but to transcend the illusions of samsara. But even if maharishi is not here in physical form. He is always here within the heart of every being.

This website is small initiative to help the sadhaka keep following the path of sadhana.

First let me introduce myself. I am Pratibha, the author of this website and Suri's sister. This website has been created as a medium of conversation between Suri and you. Suri may not be a self realised being but she has had experience of Sphurana.

Her experience of sphurana has not only transformed her life. But also of those around her. She has helped me come out of darkness. And I am sure she can help you too.

If you have any doubt about how a self realized being functions, you can ask her. You can schedule a zoom call with her through this website.

Bhagwan Ramana Maharishi

Ramana Maharshi, born as Venkataraman Iyer in 1879 in Tamil Nadu, India, was a renowned Indian sage and spiritual teacher. He is best known for his teachings on self-inquiry and the nature of the self. At the age of 16, he experienced a profound spiritual awakening that led him to seek solitude in the hills of Arunachala, where he spent much of his life.

Maharshi Ramana has emphasized the importance of asking the question "Who am I?" as a means to realize one's true nature, which he described as the eternal, unchanging self (Atman). His teachings are rooted in Advaita Vedanta, a non-dualistic philosophy that speaks about the oneness of the individual soul and the ultimate reality (Brahman).

The Holy Arunachala

Mount Arunachala in Tiruvannamalai holds a very high place in Hindu spirituality. It is believed to be the manifestation of Lord Shiva, representing the formless aspect of divinity. It is said that Mount Kailasa is the abode of Lord Shiva, but Arunachala is Lord Shiva himself. It is seen as a symbol of the ultimate reality and the inner self.

For Ramana Maharshi, Arunachala was not just a physical location but a spiritual beacon. He believed that the mountain radiated spiritual energy, making it an ideal place for self-inquiry and meditation.

The teachings of Ramana Maharshi, which emphasize self-inquiry and the realization of the non-dual nature of existence, are deeply connected to the energy of Arunachala. The mountain serves as a backdrop for these teachings, embodying the essence of non-duality
